Ferrer, known professionally as “T-Money$,” was one of three recipients selected nationwide for the program, which supports emerging Black-owned businesses with a total allocation of $150,000 annually.
Ferrer’s company, Money Honey LLC, focuses on financial education and empowerment for women, offering workshops like the “Rich Bi$h Brunch” in Pasadena and retreats abroad.
“It felt so good to be seen for the work that I was doing,” Ferrer told Local News Pasadena following the announcement. “You have your mission and your vision, and to see it recognized really meant a lot to me.”
The grant program, now in its fifth year, has provided $600,000 to 12 entrepreneurs since its launch in 2020. This year’s judges included entrepreneur Shawn Amos, investor Steve Canal, and Brittany Rhodes, a previous Ingredients for Success winner.
Ferrer’s journey into financial coaching was inspired by personal hardship.
“I grew up in a financially abusive environment, and when I overcame that in my 20s, I didn’t want women to experience anything similar to that,” she said in an interview with Local News Pasadena.
Founded in 2020 and registered in California, Money Honey LLC serves its community through coaching and events designed to dismantle financial barriers. Ferrer, in Pasadena and a USC alumna, credits her education and self-taught research for fueling her entrepreneurial path.
The grant announcement also recognized Terminal B, a Los Angeles fragrance company, and Arcarea Adult Day Center, a wellness business based in Pennsylvania.
As part of its 50th anniversary, Famous Amos introduced retro packaging and launched the “Famously You” campaign to spotlight innovative business leaders continuing the legacy of Wally Amos, who died in August at age 88.
