The Pasadena Fire Department has earned the 2021 Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Plus award from the American Heart Association for providing a higher standard of pre-hospital care to patients during emergency situations.

Ron Loomis of the American Heart Association joined the City Council’s Public Safety Committee meeting on Wednesday, November 10, to recognize the city’s fire department for its outstanding response system which allows firefighters to provide top level care for patients suffering from cardiovascular issues.

The award recognizes the department for its commitment and success in pre-hospital care by ensuring that every patient suffering from heart attack would receive treatment, according to nationally accepted standards.

Fire Department Chief Chad Augustin accepted the award and lauded the men and women of the Pasadena Fire Department.

“Their commitment to excellence in cardiac care literally saves lives and improves the quality of life within our community.”

“This award is a very impressive achievement and one that I have a sincere appreciation for.”

Augustin noted that the award is difficult to earn and only less than 10 percent of the fire departments across the state can receive the award.

The fire chief assured the public that the department will continue to train rigorously to perfect its system and provide top level care to patients.
