Webster’s Community Pharmacy has initiated a fundraising campaign using their BEAUTIFUL ALTADENA 91001™ merchandise collection to support businesses destroyed by the Eaton Fire and to fund local education.
The pharmacy’s effort will direct 100% of net proceeds to rebuilding Altadena’s business community and providing scholarships for Pasadena Unified School District students. It’s being undertaken in partnership with the Altadena Chamber of Commerce.
Webster’s co-owners Meredith and Michael Miller shared their motivation in an email: “As owners of one of oldest businesses in Altadena, our hearts are breaking but our spirit is strong. Over the many years, Webster’s Community Pharmacy has made it through WWII, recessions, riots, earthquakes and most recently, COVID. Now we face perhaps the most difficult challenge of all, the physical rebuilding of our beautiful mountainside home.”
The BEAUTIFUL ALTADENA 91001™ collection, launched several years ago, includes license plate holders, t-shirts, mugs, baseball caps, and stickers. The line’s logo was created by Hugo Arteaga, a professional graphic designer from Altadena who lost his home in the fire.
Current offerings include a black and white long-sleeved tee shirt in 100% cotton, available in sizes Small to 2XL for $30, and a vintage wash black cotton baseball cap with an off-center logo design, adjustable to fit most sizes, also priced at $30.
While some items are available immediately through the pharmacy’s website, others can be pre-ordered with a 2-3 week turnaround time.
The website may be visited here: https://www.websterspharm.com/
Customers can choose between shipping or pickup at Webster’s temporary pharmacy location in Pasadena.
The initiative is being conducted in partnership with the Altadena Chamber of Commerce, which will help administer both the business rebuilding funds and the student scholarships through a dedicated program (details available through the Chamber).
Located at 2333 Lake Avenue, the Millers’ pharmacy at Chase Plaza was spared from the fire damage, prompting them to assist others in the area.
“We are extremely grateful that our building at Chase Plaza was spared and we feel the calling to use our resources to help others in our immediate area,” the Millers said. “Please take a moment to think of all the businesses you love and rely on in Altadena and be generous with your purchases!”
