Pasadena Humane Waives Fees on Every Available Pet for Three Hours Monday

For three hours Monday, the adoption fee on every available animal at Pasadena Humane drops to zero.

The shelter is running an after-hours event it calls Score Your Best Buddy from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., extending past its usual 5:30 p.m. adoption close. 

Pasadena Humane credited support from Los Angeles Football Club and the Chino-based pet-toy company ZippyPaws for the fee waiver, and said LAFC players would be on site for meet-and-greets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Pasadena Humane provides animal care and control services for Altadena as well as Pasadena and 10 other communities.

Fees ordinarily run $150 for a dog six months or older, $300 for a puppy, $100 for an adult cat, $150 for a kitten and $50 for a rabbit, according to the shelter’s published fee schedule as of May 20, 2026. Dog adopters in cities where Pasadena Humane administers licensing still pay a license fee on adoption day, the same page states, and license fees vary by city.

Each adoption includes a spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccines and a microchip, the release said. Adoptions are first-come, first-served, and standard screening applies. The release said everyone is invited, including people who want only to meet a player or spend time with the animals rather than adopt.

Adopters should bring a valid ID, a form of payment, and a carrier or a collar or harness and leash, according to the shelter’s adoption-process page.

Izzy Nidetz, director of placement at Pasadena Humane, said in the release that summer months are often especially busy at shelters, and that support from organizations such as LAFC and ZippyPaws helps the shelter continue providing care while creating more opportunities for pets to find homes.

ZippyPaws, founded in 2011 and based in Chino, is LAFC’s official pet toy brand under a three-year partnership. Announcing that agreement, the club said it would include player appearances in and outside BMO Stadium.

Monday’s event comes nine days after a free adoption day on July 18, which the shelter described in a July 13 release as its second free adoption day of the summer. Pasadena Humane credited the Pet Care Foundation and The Georgia B. Ridder Foundation for support of that event.

The organization has operated since 1903 and added Duarte to its service area on July 1, bringing the total to 12 communities.

Score Your Best Buddy runs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, at Pasadena Humane, 361 South Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91105. No advance registration is required. Available animals can be viewed at pasadenahumane.org, and the shelter’s main number is 626-792-7151.

Announcing the July 18 event, Pasadena Humane President and Chief Executive Chris Ramon said it came at an especially important time for the shelter, which he said was still in the height of kitten season.
