The General Manager of Pasadena Water and Power, Gurcharan Bawa, said in a statement Thursday that Arroyo Electric Vehicle Charging Depot is now open to the public.
The Depot is the second largest fast charging site co-developed with Pasadena Water and Power (“PWP”) and Tesla. It hosts 20 Tesla V3 Superchargers and six “Power Up Pasadena”-branded chargers, four of which are the newest and fastest electric vehicle (“EV”) chargers owned by the City of Pasadena.
Drivers will be able to charge their vehicles and add up to 100 miles in less than 15 minutes.
The City is focused on placing EV chargers at central locations that will help drivers support their daily commute and extend their electric range to reach further destinations.
Since the launch ofthe “Power Up Pasadena” campaign in 2018, PWP has substantially grown public EV charging infrastructure within Pasadena.
More than 100 chargers are available for public use throughout the city. Additionally, the Commercial EV Rebate Program has helped to bring 3 72 chargers to local businesses who have taken advantage of the rebates that PWP has to offer. Pasadena has the distinction of having the highest percentage of EV drivers among all Southern California electric utilities.
In an effort to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, the City has made all “Power Up Pasadena” -branded fast chargers free for public use for a limited time. Pasadena continues to offer generous rebates to purchase/lease new or used EVs as well as rebates for charging equipment.
The Arroyo Charging Depot is conveniently located near the Arroyo Parkway exit on the 110 Freeway, at 64 E Glenarm Street in Pasadena.
