Fireworks activity surged across Pasadena during the July 4 holiday period, with police responding to 178 fireworks-related calls for service between July 1 and July 5, according to a Pasadena Police Department calls-for-service report. The single-day peak came on Independence Day, when officers logged 111 such calls.

Pasadena Chief Communications Officer Lisa Derderian said in a Monday, July 6 report that authorities seized 15 pounds of fireworks over the weekend and issued eight citations, compared with 10 citations during the same period in 2025. She also reported no known fireworks-related injuries.

A vegetation fire in the 1100 block of E. Colorado Blvd. was the only fire linked to fireworks over the weekend. Derderian said the blaze was quickly extinguished by Pasadena police and fire personnel assigned to the city’s fireworks enforcement teams.

Call-for-service data shows fireworks complaints rising sharply ahead of the holiday. Police received 5 calls on July 1, 7 on July 2, and 16 on July 3. Activity spiked on July 4, when fireworks accounted for 30% of all calls that day. Calls remained elevated on July 5, with 39 fireworks-related reports, more than double the July 3 total.
