Jones Coffee, Huntington Medical Research Institutes,  and the Pasadena Community Foundation have launched a two-week community initiative to support those affected by the recent Eaton Fire while providing a welcoming gathering space for residents.

The Community Comfort Zone, hosted at Jones Coffee, will donate a substantial portion of all sales to the Eaton Fire Relief and Recovery Fund at the Pasadena Community Foundation, fostering community gathering, reconnection, reflection and healing.

“When disasters strike, we respond immediately while positioning ourselves to be of service over the life of the evolving crisis,” said Jennifer DeVoll, President of the Pasadena Community Foundation. “We will move the dollars entrusted to us as quickly as possible to meet urgent short-term needs… Our commitment is to be of service long after the last TV news vans have decamped from our neighborhoods.”

Daily activities from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. include board games, puzzles and chess. Local volunteer musicians will perform, beginning with Jenny and the Jazzbirds tomorrow from 10 a.m. to noon. Children’s art workshops feature professional instruction from local artists, starting with renowned artist Zoro Rodriguez tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m.

“The Community Comfort Zone is a testament to the strength and resilience of our community,” said Mireya Jones, a longtime supporter of local initiatives. “By coming together to heal, connect, and support one another, we’re fostering a spirit of unity and hope.”

Julia E. Bradsher, President and CEO of Huntington Medical Research Institutes, emphasized the coffee shop’s role in community building. “Jones Coffee has always been a critical gathering place for our community,” she said. “I couldn’t think of a better partner to support healing in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy.”

Information about local disaster response and recovery resources will be available throughout the event at Jones Coffee, 693 S. Raymond Ave. For more information, contact Jessica West or follow Jones Coffee on Instagram at @jonescoffee.
