Pasadena Now today launches a daily email-subscription “newspaper” which will offer readers a single convenient place to catch up on all top Pasadena news in an organized format.
The email service, entitled “Pasadena News Now,” will provide 17 new articles each weekday, at 7 a.m. There is no cost to subscribe.
“We felt our readers needed a way to start their day with a roundup of all the city’s top news presented in their email,” Publisher James Macpherson explained. “We publish so much daily content, that we felt it logical to curate the top recent stories into a newspaper front page-style format to make it easy to digest and for readers to pick out topics of personal interest.”
The email newspaper product was beta-tested in 2015, Macpherson said. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive.
“Since then, we have ramped up our news coverage. We’ve hired two additional reporters. We now publish so many stories every day that we really need to package it all into a single, easy email,” Macpherson said.
Pasadena Now is read by over 105,000 unique readers per month, Macpherson said. Individual stories are often read many tens of thousands of times one story, he said, has been read over 425,000 times.
“Our Facebook page with its 32,000 fans drives much of daily traffic,” he said. “But an email offers a great one-a-day way to scan all the area’s top stories, from news to restaurants to the arts, in a single place.”
