U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu presented a $900,000 federal grant to the Pasadena Outreach Response Team (PORT) Wednesday morning.
The funding was received through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, via Congressional Directive Spending allocated by Chu.
The ceremony occurred at the Robinson Park Recreation Center Multi-Purpose Room, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.
Among the attendees scheduled to attend were Miguel Márquez, City Manager of Pasadena, Dr. Matthew Feaster, Acting Deputy Director Public Health, City of Pasadena, and PORT Program Staff.
PORT, a collaboration between Pasadena Public Health and Fire departments, as well as Union Station Homeless Services and Huntington Health, provides extensive support to people experiencing homelessness, severe mental illness, substance use disorders, physical disabilities, and complex chronic health conditions in Pasadena.
The grant will further enable PORT to continue its mission and expand its services, contributing to the well-being of the Pasadena community.
