The Pasadena Planning Commission will consider a staff recommendation Wednesday to add 14 new projects to the city’s Fiscal Year 2026–2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), following a finding that the proposals align with the city’s General Plan.
The proposed projects include improvements to parks, public safety facilities, street infrastructure, stormwater systems and pedestrian safety. Each was evaluated for consistency with Pasadena’s long-term planning goals, including those outlined in the Land Use, Mobility, Green Space, Recreation and Parks, and Safety elements of the General Plan.
According to the Department of Public Works, which oversees the CIP, the city’s capital needs exceed available resources, requiring projects to be prioritized and integrated with existing efforts. The 14 additions would bring the total number of active CIP projects to 232.
Among the proposed projects are upgrades to fire station facilities, neighborhood park improvements, and traffic safety enhancements around schools and community centers. Where applicable, the projects were also reviewed for consistency with Pasadena’s Specific Plans.
The CIP Subcommittee, composed of staff from multiple departments, unanimously recommended the new projects during a March 26 meeting after a detailed presentation and discussion. The proposals were also reviewed by the Recreation and Parks Commission, the Northwest Commission, and the Transportation Advisory Commission in March.
Following Planning Commission review, the full FY 2026–2030 CIP will be submitted to the City Council’s Finance Committee before heading to the City Council for final adoption.
