The mid-year review will go before the commission, an advisory body that reviews the Pasadena Police Department and makes recommendations to the chief, the city manager and the City Council, which retains final authority over the department.
The department reported 51,363 computer-aided dispatch incidents from January through June, with five use-of-force incidents, one officer-involved shooting and 18 vehicle pursuits. It recorded one homicide and year-over-year declines in robbery, down 42%; motor vehicle theft, down 44%; burglary, down 24%; and larceny, down 18%, while aggravated assault rose 11%. It also reported recovering 62 firearms and recorded four shootings, resulting in one victim death and one suspect death.
The department received 2,029 applications and hired eight sworn personnel, and reported $336,000 in asset-forfeiture proceeds applied toward a helicopter down payment and a gunshot-detection system. It says it has supported 26 recommendations from the Independent Police Auditor’s 2025 use-of-force audit and 10 from the 2025 vehicle-pursuit audit.
