Eugene Harris, Chief of Police, and the Command Staff congratulate Hamblin for graduating from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute on Wednesday, November 19. The Pasadena Police Department recognizes this milestone in leadership, ethical decision-making and personal growth, underscoring its commitment to professional development and community-focused service through advanced supervisory training.
Hamblin’s completion of the program builds on a 25-year career with the Pasadena Police Department that began when he joined as a Police Cadet in 1999. He later graduated from the Orange County Sheriff’s Academy as the Top Shot of his class, establishing a foundation of strong performance early in his career.
Over the years, Hamblin has taken on a wide range of assignments, including Field Training Officer, Neighborhood Action Team, Motors and MAIT, Fugitive Apprehension, Auto-Theft Detective and Audits & Inspections. He has also contributed significantly to collateral roles such as Peer Support, Firearms Instructor and SWAT member, reflecting broad operational and leadership experience.
His work has earned multiple recognitions, including the Chief’s Medal for Excellence, the Chief’s Medal for Innovation and a Life Saving Award. A department photograph commemorating his achievement shows Deputy Chief Art Chute, Commander Marcia Taglioretti, Hamblin and Commander Sean Dawkins standing together as they congratulate him on his graduation from the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
Outside of work, Hamblin is dedicated to his family—his wife of 22 years, Erin, and their eight children—and enjoys backpacking, hiking, hunting and family adventures. The City of Pasadena congratulates Hamblin on his outstanding accomplishment and continued commitment to leadership and service.
