Landlords in Pasadena must complete their rental unit registration by Friday, October 31, as the city introduces late fees for noncompliance for the first time this year.
Landlords are required to pay a $238 fee per rental unit and submit registration information by the deadline.
The Rent Stabilization Department’s office will be closed on October 31 due to scheduled city closures, but landlords can still access assistance ahead of time.
All payments must be made in full, with partial payments not accepted, the city said.
In-person payments are accepted at the City of Pasadena Municipal Services office, located at 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room N106, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., even on October 31 when the Rent Stabilization Department office is closed.
Payments cannot be made at the Rent Stabilization Department office itself.
Mailed payments require the invoice number, parcel number and billing period written on the check, and must include the detached payment slip with the submission.
Mailing well in advance of the deadline is recommended to avoid late fees.
After the registration closes, landlords have a seven-day grace period through November 7.
Late fees apply after the grace period ends, as follows:
- 8 to 45 days late (November 8 to December 22): $35.70 per unit
- 46 to 90 days late (December 23 to February 5): $71.40 per unit
- 91 days or more late (February 6 and after): $119 per unit
Registration and payment can be completed online through the Rental Registry Portal, in person at Municipal Services, or by mailing the required documentation and check.
Landlords seeking more information or assistance may visit the Rental Registry Portal, contact the Rent Stabilization Department at (626) 744-7999 or RentalRegistry@CityOfPasadena.
