The session, “Navigating late-life transitions,” is part of Huntington Health’s long-running Noon Hour series for older adults. According to the hospital’s event listing, Mental Health Promoters from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health will discuss how people can keep a positive self-view, feel good about their past and “make the most of life as you age.” It is set for 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, and will be held over Zoom.
The talk runs about an hour and includes time for questions, the hospital says. Participation is free, but advance registration is required.
The Noon Hour talks are organized by Senior Care Network, the community program based on the Huntington Hospital campus at 100 West California Boulevard. The network was founded in 1984 and now serves older adults across the San Gabriel Valley; the Noon Hour series sits within its 50+ Health Connection program. Recent sessions have covered aging well, brain health, and sleep — a steady rotation of the practical concerns of later life.
The presenters come from a county program built around trust. According to LACDMH, its Promoters — promotores de salud mental — are community members trained to reduce mental health stigma and connect people to resources, acting as a cultural bridge between the county and historically underserved neighborhoods. The county started the program in 2011 to serve Spanish-speaking residents and expanded it in 2020, after Board of Supervisors approval, to Black, Asian and Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native, Eastern European and Middle Eastern, LGBTQ+ communities, and people with physical disabilities.
It is not the Promoters’ first appearance in the series; they led a Noon Hour talk in May on how sleep supports mood and memory. LACDMH staff have appeared before that as well, including a session on grief and loss.
Registration is handled two ways. Residents can sign up through the online form on Huntington Health’s Noon Hour page and receive a Zoom link by email, or join by phone at the time of the event by calling (564) 217-2000, entering meeting ID 862 5512 7925, pressing # for the participant ID, then entering the password 599251. Anyone who wants help using Zoom can reach Senior Care Network’s membership line at (626) 397-3147.
“Navigating late-life transitions” takes place Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Participation is free. The session is held online via Zoom rather than at a physical location, so no venue or parking applies; advance registration is required.
