The City of Pasadena is set to officially open the doors to the public for the grand unveiling of the Honorable John J. Kennedy Pool today at 9:30 a.m.

The new aquatic facility, located at 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave., is named in honor of the late City Councilmember John J. Kennedy, a strong advocate for public safety, parks, affordable housing, and local hiring.

The state-of-the-art pool promises to be a hub of community recreation and enjoyment. “This exciting addition promises to offer residents and visitors an oasis of water-based fun and fitness, fostering a vibrant and healthy lifestyle for all,” the City said in a statement.

The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live swim demonstrations, remarks by dignitaries, and light refreshments. The public is invited.

With the completion of this project, the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department will offer year-round aquatics programming including swim lessons for all ages (toddlers through adults), water aerobics, parent and me classes, as well as recreational and lap swimming.

“We are excited to introduce these new aquatic programs as part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of life for Pasadena residents,” said Koko Panossian, Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. “We invite everyone to dive in and make a splash with us as we embark on this aquatic journey together.”

Here are some highlights of what’s in store ahead:
