Tammy Silver, a member of the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees, announced her campaign for re-election.

Silver said she has received “the support of trusted community leaders like Mayor of Pasadena Victor Gordo, Pasadena City Councilmember Jason Lyon, and Pasadena City Councilmember Jess Rivas!”

In an email, Silver reflected on her past term, highlighting her support for projects and initiatives that champion student success, modernizing PCC facilities, and providing financial assistance to students in need.

She emphasized the importance of good leadership, transparent decision making, and putting what’s best for students, the college, and the community first. She acknowledged that there is still much work to be done and asked for continued support in her campaign.

On her campaign website, Silver published her platform of 7 key points.

Silver proposes targeted measures to reverse the decline in student transfers and degree completions through improved counseling and support, with an emphasis on adapting course offerings to future workforce needs in technology, healthcare, and critical thinking skills.

She is also calling for more transparent financial reporting in board meetings and aims to create a clearer path to four-year colleges to control student costs. Her plan seeks to stabilize leadership at the college, with the goal of making it the nation’s best community college by focusing on student outcomes and regular engagement with students, faculty, and staff through surveys and data-driven decision-making.

In her email, Silver also thanked those who attended her campaign kick-off on July 23rd and expressed gratitude for the support she has received.
