
Pasadena City College men’s track and field sprinter Anthony Pequeno beat his state’s fastest time in the 200 meters on Saturday at the Cerritos Open. Pequeno posted a season-best 21.67 seconds to place second overall behind an unattached runner. His previous high this season was 22 flat.
Pequeno also placed second, but fastest at the meet among California Community College runners at 10.85. His 10.81 on Feb. 21 is his fastest mark thus far in 2026, sixth in the state rankings.
The 4×400 relay squad of Alan Razo, Dylan Hooks, Quishawn Stanford and Pequeno was fourth in the event, but their time of 3:24.80 is now eighth in the state. The 4×100 relay squad placed second at Cerritos, but Noah Fry, Eugene Dela Cruz, Stanford and Pequeno’s mark of 43.21 is currently 11th in the state.
Milo Peoples placed second in the javelin with a toss of 164 feet, 7 inches, which has catapulted him to fifth in the state. Fry placed second in the triple jump at 41-2.25, but his 44.95 earlier this season is state fourth in the event.
Other PCC finishers included Stanford placing seventh in the 400 (50.86, 14th in state), Drake Anderson sixth in the 1,500 (4:11.64), and John Sanchez-Lopez ninth in the 800 (2:03.11).
