Planned Parenthood Leader Sheri Bonner Resigns From Human Services Commission

Sheri Bonner, the outgoing president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley, has resigned from the Pasadena Human Services Commission effective June 30, marking the end of her service both to the commission and to the reproductive health organization she led for more than two decades.

Bonner submitted her resignation in a letter to the commission, citing the conclusion of her employment with Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley.

“As of June 30, 2026, I officially tender my resignation from my seat on the Human Services Commission as an organizational representative of Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley,” Bonner wrote. “This is the date when my employment with PPPSGV ends. It has been a rewarding experience. Many thanks for your thoughtful stewardship of this important commission.”

Bonner’s departure from the commission follows her retirement from Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley, where she served as president and CEO since 2004.

During her tenure, the Pasadena-based nonprofit expanded from a single health center in Pasadena to five clinics serving more than 60,000 patient visits annually across 24 communities in the San Gabriel Valley. The organization now operates health centers in Pasadena, Alhambra, Baldwin Park, Glendora and Highland Park.

Earlier this year, Assemblymember John Harabedian honored Bonner as the 41st Assembly District’s 2026 Woman of the Year, recognizing her decades-long career advocating for healthcare access and reproductive rights.

“Sheri has been a champion for healthcare access and reproductive rights across the San Gabriel Valley and beyond for decades,” Harabedian said at the time. “Her devotion to the patients of Planned Parenthood knows no bounds, and she is truly deserving of this special recognition in honor of her lifetime of service to our community.”

Bonner spent approximately 32 years within the Planned Parenthood system, including previous service as chief administrative officer for the organization’s San Diego and Riverside Counties affiliate. She has also received the Ruth Green Award, Planned Parenthood’s highest honor, along with Woman of the Year recognitions from Rep. Judy Chu in 2016 and former state Sen. Anthony Portantino in 2017.

Her successor, Dipti Singh, assumed the role of president and CEO on April 1.

Bonner’s tenure also included plans for a new 20,000-square-foot flagship health center and headquarters at 620 N. Lake Ave., a project expected to open later this year.

The Human Services Commission advises the City Council on issues affecting health and human services programs and community needs. Bonner served on the commission as Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley’s organizational representative.

In announcing her retirement earlier this year, Bonner said she planned to remain active in advocacy efforts supporting reproductive healthcare access throughout California.
