A 20-year-old Pasadena man was arrested Friday evening after allegedly vandalizing a vehicle and brandishing a handgun during a confrontation, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Sam De Sylva said.

Officers responded at approximately 6:34 p.m. July 10 to the 1000 block of Morton Avenue near Glorieta Street following reports of vandalism, according to De Sylva. The victim, a 47-year-old man from Azusa, told police his vehicle had been parked on Morton Avenue when the suspect drove up, slashed his tires, and then left.

The victim followed the suspect to the 1000 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue, where the suspect resides, De Sylva said. When the victim attempted to confront him, the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. The victim fled and called police.

Responding officers detained the suspect without incident at his residence and recovered a Glock 17 handgun with an extended magazine from the patio area, De Sylva said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon under De Sylva said. The firearm was seized as evidence. Authorities did not release the suspect’s name.
