Police: Arrested 911 Caller is Illegal Immigrant

Oscar Carrillo, arrested for involuntary manslaughter by Pasadena Police  after he allegedly confessed to fabricating portions of a 911 call on March 24 which led to police shooting and killing a young man, is in the United States illegally, police dept. spokesperson Lt. Phlunté Riddle said.

Riddle confirmed reports that Carrillo has been living in the United States and working at a Pasadena store. He is without proper documentation. The police department has no jurisdiction over immigration issues.

Carrillo, 26, of Pasadena, claimed he had been accosted by the two and that the pair had stolen a laptop computer from his car.He said he was giving chase in his car as he dialed in the 911 call.

Police now believe that Carrillo was lying and that neither youth was armed.

Officers responded to  the call of an armed robbery and saw one suspect running near Fair Oaks Avenue and Orange Grove Blvd.

The officers pursued the suspect north on Sunset Avenue from Orange Grove Blvd and as they neared him, police say the officers “observed his hands at his waistband. Fearing for their lives they fired multiple shots striking the suspect.”

The suspect was transported to local area hospital where he died.

In spite of intensive searches, including one by bloodhounds provided by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept., no weapon was ever located.
