A Pasadena man was arrested on Tuesday night for assault with a deadly weapon and an outstanding warrant after he brandished a knife and threatened to harm his roommate, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Tim Bundy.
The incident occurred at 8:25 p.m. in the 500 block of North Marengo Avenue.
Officers responded to a disturbance report and found the victim and suspect, who are roommates, arguing.
According to Bundy, the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Carlos Hernandez, allegedly brandished a knife and threatened to harm the victim.
A witness had heard the argument and called the police. Officers arrived and arrested Hernandez for assault with a deadly weapon and an outstanding warrant for assaulting an officer, Bundy said.
The victim was not injured and the knife was recovered at the scene.
Hernandez was booked into the Pasadena Jail and reportedly held on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
The motive for the argument is still under investigation but may have arisen from the victim’s request for rent money, police said.
