Pasadena Police Department officers traded their duty boots for sneakers to support families with critically ill children. The department participated in the annual 5K Walk for Kids event hosted by Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) at the Rose Bowl Stadium on April 12, raising over $5,000 to help families stay close to their children during medical treatments.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities is a second home for families whose children are facing unimaginable health challenges,” said Eugene Harris, Chief of Police.
“Located across the street from Huntington Health, RMHC welcomes, cares for, and provides shelter and meals free of charge to families whose children are receiving lifesaving treatments and procedures. This priceless gift allows parents to focus on the health, comfort, and wellbeing of their little one.”
The charity walk drew hundreds of community members and dozens of community partners who came together at the Rose Bowl Stadium. Over a dozen members of the Pasadena Police Department, including command staff, participated in the fundraising event.
Deputy Chief Art Chute, who serves as an RMHC Board Member, led the police department team. Together, they successfully raised $5,355 to benefit the charity.
All funds raised during this event help support families with seriously ill children who need a place to stay while their kids receive medical treatment at local healthcare facilities. These donations provide families with a safe and supportive environment during incredibly challenging times.
