Two men were arrested Friday afternoon following a brief vehicle pursuit that ended in Pasadena, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.
The pursuit began around 3:03 p.m. on Aug. 8 near Colorado Boulevard and North San Rafael Avenue after officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a vehicle code violation, Campeau said. The driver reportedly failed to yield, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit that lasted approximately three minutes and covered about 1.2 miles.
The suspect slowed near Glorieta Street and Morton Avenue, where he appeared to discard an object resembling a firearm before yielding and being taken into custody without further incident, Campeau said.
Officers searched the area but did not locate the firearm. Investigators later determined that a second suspect had retrieved the object.
Video surveillance helped identify the second suspect, who was subsequently located and arrested. A search warrant was served at his residence, but the firearm was not recovered, according to Campeau.
The driver, identified as Darnell St. Clair, 44, of Lancaster, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading and driving under the influence. The second suspect, Donald Wallace, 55, of Pasadena, was arrested on suspicion of tampering with evidence, Campeau said.
No injuries were reported, and the police helicopter was called but arrived after the pursuit had concluded, Campeau said.
