A 17-year-old Pasadena juvenile was arrested Jan. 15 after Pasadena police officers found a loaded, stolen handgun on him during a pedestrian stop at Colorado Boulevard and Garfield Avenue, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Matt Campeau.
Campeau said the incident occurred at 8:39 p.m., when officers on patrol in the area were alerted by dispatch to information regarding a “felony vehicle” and two possibly involved subjects described as Black males between 18 and 20 years old. Officers observed individuals matching the broadcast description and conducted a pedestrian stop, Campeau reported.
During the stop, one officer immediately recognized one of the subjects from previous contacts, according to Campeau. A search of that subject — identified only as a Black male juvenile from Pasadena — allegedly led officers to a Glock 43 handgun on his person. Campeau said the firearm was loaded, including a round in the chamber, and a records check showed it had been reported stolen.
The juvenile, who Campeau said is on probation with search conditions, was arrested for weapons violations and transported to Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.
The second subject was released at the scene, according to Campeau.
Campeau said the original “felony vehicle” call that prompted the alert was later determined to be unrelated, and he had no additional information about that call beyond what dispatch initially broadcast.
No drugs were found. The suspect did not resist during the arrest. No other items were recovered, Campeau said.
