A 60-year-old Hispanic man was threatened with a firearm on Sunday evening, prompting a police search that involved air and canine units, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:43 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Marengo Avenue, Campeau said.
Campeau said officers responded after calls about a man armed with a handgun were reported.
Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect had already fled from the scene in a white vehicle. Campeau stated that officers quickly located the vehicle nearby and initiated a traffic stop. However, after the vehicle yielded, the suspect abandoned the car and fled on foot.
A containment was quickly established and ground units searched the area with the assistance of the police helicopter and the canine unit, Campeau said. Despite these efforts, the suspect managed to evade capture.
During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had threatened to shoot the victim before leaving the location. According to Campeau the victim was uninjured in the incident.
According to Campeau, the suspect is described as an African American man in his thirties. No further details about his appearance were provided. The firearm was not recovered at the scene.
