The Pasadena Police Department will hold its 30th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 4, moving the community event to a new location at Jefferson Park, 1501 E. Villa St.

The Pasadena Police Department is inviting residents, families, community organizations and local businesses to the event, which is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., according to a department press release. National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign, established in 1984, that promotes partnerships between police departments and the neighborhoods they serve on the first Tuesday of August.

The department said the move to Jefferson Park reflects its continued commitment to making the event accessible, welcoming and engaging for residents throughout Pasadena. The release said National Night Out has been a Pasadena tradition for three decades, bringing together neighbors, law enforcement, businesses and community partners, and that it strengthens relationships between the Pasadena Police Department and the community while promoting crime prevention, public safety and neighborhood unity.

This year’s event will feature interactive games and activities, community resource booths and giveaways, along with opportunities to connect with Pasadena Police Department personnel and representatives from local nonprofit organizations and government agencies, according to the release. Attendees will be able to find information on a variety of health and safety topics, including crime prevention, domestic violence resources, mental health services, youth programs and personal safety.

The department’s Mounted Enforcement Unit will make a special appearance, giving families a chance to meet the department’s horses and learn about the unit’s role in community policing and public safety, the release said.

“National Night Out is more than just a community event, it’s a celebration of the partnerships that help keep Pasadena safe,” said Chief Gene Harris. “Whether you’re meeting an officer for the first time, connecting with local organizations, or simply enjoying an evening with your family and neighbors, we hope everyone feels welcome. We look forward to seeing the community at Jefferson Park on August 4.”

The department says it continues to expand National Night Out each year through community outreach, partnerships and engagement, and that local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community groups take part as vendors, sponsors and volunteers.
