The Power Is Back After Pasadena Plant Emergency Affects Thousands

Published on Friday, September 6, 2024 | 5:17 pm

Power has been restored to customers impacted by rolling outages following an emergency at the City of Pasadena power plant, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) announced at 5:49 p.m.
Crews have stabilized the system, and rotating outages have concluded, PWP reported.
“Thank you for your patience,” PWP said on social media.
In a statement, PWP  said that the extremely high heat caused an equipment failure at the power plant shortly after 4:00 p.m.
This caused the need to implement immediate rotating outages, for one-hour periods.
The outages affected nearly 8,500 electric accounts at one point, according to a city official.
City staff have been working through this urgent situation, the statement said.
