[Updated] The Pasadena Rent Stabilization Department released preliminary data on recent rental housing inquiries and complaints, revealing over 700 contacts from tenants and landlords between March 1 and June 30, 2024. The report offers insights into pressing concerns in the city’s rental market.
According to the data, rent increases and eviction notices topped the list of issues raised. The Department fielded 96 inquiries from tenants about rent hikes and 193 from landlords regarding termination notices.
The report shows 714 contacts, 252 from tenants and 352 from landlords. This represents a 41% to 59% split between the two groups seeking assistance or information.

The Rent Stabilization Department was created to support the Pasadena Rental Housing Board’s duties to regulate rent increases on certain rental properties and provide eviction protections. Housing counselors are to offer guidance to both tenants and landlords on these matters.
Plans call for the Rent Stabilization Department to provide more extensive monthly reports as it establishes systems to track and analyze rental housing data. Officials said they intend to offer a more detailed breakdown of inquiries and services provided in future reports.
The Department encourages those seeking assistance or information to contact them. The phone number tenants and landlords in Pasadena can call to contact the Rent Stabilization Department is (626) 744-7999.
