Abdul-Malik and co-defendant Teraeja Laquanna Flemmings each face one count of murder in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Today’s hearing will take place in Department H at the Pasadena Courthouse, 300 E. Walnut St., according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors charged Abdul-Malik under case number 25PDCF00449 and allege he also faces a count of possession of a firearm by a felon with an enhancement for personally and intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury or death. Authorities set bail at $3 million for Abdul-Malik and $2 million for Flemmings.
According to the Pasadena Police Department, Moreno was struck by a bullet that entered his bedroom window on the night of Nov. 20, 2021, while he played video games in his home on the 900 block of North Raymond Avenue. Investigators said a gray Ford Fusion stopped across from the home, and a front-seat passenger fired two rounds eastward — one fatally hitting the teen.
“The violence that took this young boy’s life is not only tragic, but also unacceptable and criminal… we will work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are held accountable,” District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said when announcing the charges.
The preliminary hearing begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
