Review Process on Altadena Sports Complex Could Take Years

Due to the size and the scope of a potential sports complex that could be built on Chaney Trail, the county review process on the process could take several years to complete according to a local website that opposes the project.

Pasadena Polytechnic School plans to build a sports complex at the site. The process is currently in the design phase and expected to take three years.
Local residents expressed concerns about traffic congestion which has led to the petition.

The complex would be built on land currently housed by Nuccio’s Nurseries. The land occupies about 1.44% of Altadena’s total land area according to Altadena Wild a group of local residents that oppose the project.

“A representative from Supervisor Barger’s office has told AW members that the review process could last more than three years,” the group said in an email to its followers. “During this time, Poly will have to file a comprehensive Environmental Impact Report (EIR). At some point, the draft EIR will be released for public comment.”

Altadena Wild has retained an experienced land-use attorney to provide specific help on formulating an EIR response.

The group has distributed 3000 informational flyers, and 200 yard signs. Since the group started its website and online petition on February 21, it has collected 3,000 signatures.
