A Pasadena man in his thirties narrowly escaped injury Thursday night when a camera sale turned into a robbery and shooting incident in the 900 block of North Los Robles Avenue, according to police.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 8:21 p.m. and discovered evidence of a shooting along with the robbery victim, said Pasadena Police Lieutenant Andrea Perez.

The victim told officers he had arranged to meet a suspect at the location to sell a camera, Perez said. Instead of completing the transaction, the suspect, described only as an African American man between 20 and 30 years old, grabbed the camera and fled on foot.

As the victim chased after the suspect, he heard a gunshot coming from down the street where a second suspect was standing, Lt. Perez said. Fearing for his safety, the victim stopped chasing the suspect with his camera.

The victim was not injured during the incident, according to. Perez.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate either suspect. The Robbery Homicide Unit of the Pasadena Police Department is handling the investigation, Perez said.
