Pasadena’s Accessibility and Disability Commission will examine requirements for accessible events today after a visitor complained that a recent concert failed to deliver on ADA promises.

During public comment at the commission’s October meeting, Maribeth Romslo, a Minnesota resident with a disability, said she traveled to Pasadena for the Chappell Roan concert on Oct. 11 and found inadequate accessibility despite the event’s claims it would be ADA accessible. The commission will now discuss accessible event requirements and best practices at its special meeting.

The panel meets at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1080 N. Fair Oaks Ave. The session replaces the commission’s canceled November and December regular meetings.

Commissioners will also hear from FASTLink DTLA about ButterFli, an accessible transportation service targeting problems in medical transit. Founded by industry veterans Delilah Lanoix and John Harris, ButterFli was created to address persistent challenges in the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation sector, including missed pickups, inefficiencies, and underperforming services.

With more than 25 years of combined experience, the founders envisioned a platform connecting riders and providers to ensure dependable rides for those who need consistent access to care. The company describes itself as a mission-driven project aimed at “transforming communities one ride at a time” by bridging gaps in healthcare access and empowering providers to deliver better service.

The commission will also discuss and approve nominations and the award process for the Robert Gorski Access Award, which annually recognizes a Pasadena resident with a disability who has improved accessibility and quality of life for the disability community. Current commissioners are ineligible for nomination.

Additional agenda items include approval of the October 28, 2025, regular meeting minutes, work plan updates, and a special events calendar.

ASL interpretation will be provided. Language translation services are available with 72-hour advance notice by calling (626) 744-3829 or emailing sgoldman@cityofpasadena.net.
