The Rose Bowl Institute and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses have partnered to present a youth leadership summit to equip students with life skills, leadership training, and tools to navigate modern challenges. The Empowering Tomorrow, Today: Youth Leadership Summit will take place on April 30 at the Rose Bowl, bringing together students, educators, and community leaders for mentorship and inspiration.

Running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the summit will instill resilience, financial literacy, and critical thinking through interactive workshops, discussions, and networking sessions. Organizers said the initiative is a collaboration to prepare young leaders to excel in a complex world.

“We are thrilled to host the ‘Empowering Tomorrow, Today’ summit at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium, a place synonymous with history, tradition, and excellence,” said Dedan Brozino, President of the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation. “This summit represents our commitment to equipping young people with the tools they need to become compassionate, confident, and capable leaders who will drive positive change in their communities and beyond.”

A keynote speaker will share insights on leadership, perseverance, and success, offering inspiration and actionable advice for young people striving to make a difference. The summit will also feature a panel discussion moderated by sports broadcaster Holly Rowe, focusing on the rise of women’s basketball and the challenges and triumphs of female athletes.

“This event is not just about imparting knowledge – it’s about creating an environment where young people feel supported and inspired to take action,” said Mark Leavens, President of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses. “We are proud to offer this incredible opportunity free of charge, making it accessible to students from all walks of life. Our goal is to provide a platform that fosters growth, self-discovery, and leadership skills that will last a lifetime.”

The summit will provide students with tools to build confidence and make informed decisions. Attendees will engage in sessions on goal setting, overcoming adversity, and financial literacy, and gain insights that will help them thrive personally and professionally.

The event will also feature Resource Row, a space where students can connect with local organizations and businesses offering resources on mental health, internships, mentorship, employment, and community engagement. As part of its community commitment, the event will support Eaton Fire recovery efforts, providing essential resources to youth impacted by the disaster.

The summit will feature a panel discussion about the power of strength, perseverance, and resiliency required to succeed at the highest level of competition on and off the court. Networking and mentorship opportunities will connect with peers, mentors, and community leaders committed to youth empowerment and leadership development. The event is also expected to empower and inspire attendees to gain the confidence and motivation to lead with integrity, drive, and purpose.

The Rose Bowl Institute, an initiative of the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation, promotes sportsmanship, leadership, and citizenship through educational programs and dialogues emphasizing ethics, teamwork, and perseverance. Founded in 2020, the institute has provided free programming for underserved communities in Southern California and beyond, fostering leadership development through the universal language of sports.

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses is best known for organizing the annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game. It is a volunteer organization with over 935 members contributing more than 80,000 volunteer hours to support community events.
