Pasadena firefighters knocked down a fire on the second floor of a two-story, Greene and Greene style home in the 700 block of South Grand Avenue Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were summoned shortly after 2:00 p.m., according to dispatch records.
The fire was located in a bedroom closet on the second floor, according to city spokesperson Lisa Derderian.
It was extinguished 22 minutes later. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
“The adjacent bedroom sustained moderate heat and fire damage,” she said. The home’s entire second floor sustained significant smoke damage.
Derderian said a Verdugo Fire Investigation Task Force investigator determined the cause of the fire was discarded smoking materials in a trash can in the second-story closet.
All occupants of the building were displaced as a result of the fire but declined shelter assistance from the American Red Cross.
