Lisa Kroese’s campaign for the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Board of Education said it has received the endorsement of Teamsters Local 911, which represents classified PUSD employees in maintenance and operations, food services, warehouse, and information technology services.
Kroese quoted a supportive statement attributed to Michael J. Leon, Business Representative of Teamsters Local 911:
“She is a dedicated and driven mom, PTA volunteer, and business woman,” according to the statement. “She has highly valuable public service experience, and we believe that on Day 1, Lisa can hit the ground running to deliver excellence for our children’s education.”
The statement added that the endorsement is a recognition of Kroese’s passion for education and community service.
Kroese expressed her gratitude for the Teamsters’ trust and vowed to work tirelessly to address the challenges facing PUSD schools.
“These dedicated employees are the backbone of our school system, ensuring its smooth operation each day for our students and teachers,” Kroese said. “With the Teamsters’ unwavering commitment to fighting for better working conditions, wages, and benefits, I am truly honored by the trust that they have placed in me to represent our community’s best interests on the School Board.”
Kroese, a realtor and mother of three PUSD students, declared her candidacy for the PUSD Board of Education in February, aiming to represent District 6. The Kroese family relocated to Pasadena in 2018 when her husband Steve joined JPL’s Mars Rover team as a flight software engineer.
Before relocating to California, Kroese was an independent personal property and fine art appraiser. After volunteering for U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand on her first congressional campaign, Kroese worked her way up to District Director in New York’s 20th Congressional District. Later, she was appointed Director of Operations for the Senate of Pennsylvania and covered legislative educational policy and constituent service for a State Senator on the Education Committee.
