Police said a witness heard shots being fired Friday afternoon and saw a suspect running, then jumping into a car and driving away — but no victim has come forward.

The incident occurred in the Kings Villages apartments complex in the 1300 block of North Fair Oaks avenue about 1 p.m. Friday, Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said.

Police received numerous calls of shots fired.

Responding officers found multiple shell casings as evidence that a shooting had occurred, Mercado said.

A witness provided a suspect description, but had not seen the subject of the attack and no victim was found by officers, Mercado said.

The suspect is described a black man with short black hair wearing a blue T-shirt and black pants. He fled southbound on North Fair Oaks Avenue in a four-door white vehicle, Mercado said.

The suspect was carrying a handgun, the witness told police.
