The South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce has mobilized emergency resources and opened public facilities as refuge centers in response to an intense windstorm, spreading wildfires, and widespread power outages threatening the community.
The Chamber announced two “places of refuge”: the South Pasadena Senior Center (1102 Oxley Street.), open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the South Pasadena Public Library (1100 Oxley Street.), open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Emergency officials have established an evacuation center at the Pasadena Civic Center (300 East Green Street, Pasadena), while authorities urge residents in designated evacuation zones to “leave immediately for your safety and the safety of first responders.”
“During this difficult time, we want to remind you that we are a community that supports and uplifts one another,” the Chamber of Commerce stated in its emergency announcement.
Local authorities have activated an emergency response network, with the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (626) 403-7297, Fire Department at (626) 403-7300, and the City Services Directory at (626) 403-7200 for residents seeking assistance.
Officials are advising residents to “stay indoors as much as possible if it is safe to do so” and to “monitor air quality and use air purifiers or N95 masks to limit smoke exposure.”
The Chamber emphasized community vigilance, requesting residents “check in on family, friends, and neighbors—especially those who may not have power or internet but may still have cell service.”
Emergency services are directing residents to report downed power lines through 911 and maintain a minimum 30-foot distance from any fallen electrical infrastructure, with power outages to be reported to Southern California Edison.
“As we navigate this emergency, we want to recognize the resilience of our community and the hard work of first responders who are tirelessly working to keep us safe,” the Chamber added.
For ongoing emergency updates, officials are directing residents to monitor fire.ca.gov, the Watch Duty app, and local emergency radio channels for the latest information.
