State Senator Ben Allen Endorses Pasadena Resident Harabedian For Senate

State Senator Ben Allen announced his endorsement for Pasadena resident John Harabedian for State Senate. 

Harabedian is running in the open-seat race for Senate District 25.

“Determined, thoughtful, and effective, John Harabedian has a proven ability to get things done in local government, and I know he’ll be a great member of the Senate. I’m excited to announce my support for his campaign!”? Allen said. 

Harabedian was born and raised in Sierra Madre, in the heart of the 25th State Senate District. He was elected to the Sierra Madre City Council in 2012, re-elected in 2016, and twice served as Mayor. John was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown and re-appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to serve on the California Department of Consumer Affairs Acupuncture Board.

He and his wife Young-Gi, have three children.

Allen represents the 24th Senate District, covering the Westside, Hollywood, South Bay, and Santa Monica Mountains communities of Los Angeles County. Ben was first elected in 2014 and is now serving his third and final term in the State Senate.

He chairs the Senate’s Environmental Quality Committee and co-chairs the Legislature’s Environmental Caucus, is a member of the Legislative Jewish Caucus, chairs the Legislature’s Joint Committee on the Arts, and the Senate Select Committee on Aerospace and Defense. He previously served as Chair of the Education Committee (2017-2019) and Chair of the Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee (2015-2016).

Prior to his election to the Senate, Ben served as President of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education, lecturer at UCLA Law School, and worked as an attorney at the law firms of Bryan Cave LLP and Richardson & Patel and at the nonprofit Spark Program.
