A free community summit is planned that will being Eaton Fire survivors together with insurance experts, builders, and government agencies at the Pasadena Convention Center on February 21.

The daylong event, organized by Rebuilding California, offers eight programming tracks covering financial recovery, insurance reimbursement, rebuilding options, permitting, mental health support, and wildfire safety. An Altadena family displaced by the fire who later appeared on “America’s Got Talent” will open the day with live music.

The Eaton Fire was the second most destructive wildfire in state history.

“Stronger Together: A Solutions Summit” will feature an expo hall where residents can connect directly with organizations offering financial, legal, and rebuilding assistance. Participants include the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety, United Policyholders, California Fire Safe Council, the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, according to a press release from the organizers.

Builders Genesis, Brookfield Residential, Metricon Homes, and Homebound will also participate, along with the LA County District Attorney’s Office, Contractors Licensing Board, and LA County Assessor Jeffrey Prang, the release said.

The Benn Family Band, a multigenerational Altadena family who lost their home in the fire, will perform during the opening ceremony. The group received a standing ovation on “America’s Got Talent” last June for their rendition of “Rescue” by Lauren Daigle. During their audition, family members told the judges they lost everything in the blaze.

“We, like thousands of other families, lost our home in January,” the band said on the show. “The Altadena fire took our city and all of our homes.”

Rebuilding California describes itself as a nonprofit organization that “bridges the gap between information and action for communities recovering from disaster,” according to its press release.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 East Green Street. Registration is free and available through Eventbrite.

The January 2025 wildfires forced more than 200,000 people to evacuate across Los Angeles County. Rebuilding remains slow: as of last month, only a handful of homes have been fully reconstructed in the fire zones, according to county data.
