Christian ministry leaders from the Greater Los Angeles area and beyond are set to gather in Pasadena for a two-day convention with seminars, exhibitions and training on church leadership.

The Christian Ministries Training Association will hold its 62nd Annual Impact Convention from May 2, Friday, to May 3, Saturday, at the Pasadena Convention Center.

With the theme “equip, train, encourage, inspire,” the association will host a series of workshops that includes the “Loving Art of Discipleship,” “Children’s Sermons: How to Research, Write and Illustrate Children’s Sermons” and “ABC’s of Praise!”

Members of different ministries—adult, early childhood, elementary, evangelism and outreach, family, leadership, technology, women’s ministry and youth—will be given seminars of different topics every one hour and 15 minutes.

Some of the highlights of the talks are Randy Rodden’s “A Biblical Response to Homosexuality and the Local Church,” which will help Christians articulate the biblical position on homosexuality, and Don Johnson’s “Why Hell is fair and Heaven Won’t Be Boring,” which will teach ministry leaders how to share doctrines to skeptics in a coherent way.

Senior Pastor Kenneth C. Ulmer of the Faithful Central Bible Church in Los Angeles and pastor Bayless Conley of Cottonwood Church in Orange County will be the keynote speakers.

About 60 Christian group and ministry booths will be present, including the Christian humanitarian organization World Vision, and the financial institution Christian Community Credit Union. The Rock of Israel Ministries, Women’s Christian Temperance Union, Camp Pondo, Empty Tomb Witnessing Jewelry and Green Egg Media will also be present.

Admission costs $90.

The Christian Ministries Training Association was founded in 1951 as the Greater Los Angeles Sunday School Association with the first convention held in 1952. It is a voluntary association of individuals, Sunday schools, churches and other organizations from various denominations who cooperate in training Christians for service in their local church.

Pasadena Convention Center is located at 300 E. Green St. For more information, call (626) 286-6492 or visit http://www.cmtaconvention.org.
