The Tournament of Roses Foundation announced today it has elected Wellington Chen as its new President.
Chen is Executive Vice President and Director of Corporate Banking for East West Bank; the second largest commercial bank based in California . He was appointed to the Tournament of Roses Foundation Board as Secretary in May 2004 and became Vice President in May 2006.
Chen replaces former Foundation Board member, Denise Nelson Nash, who retired from the Foundation Board after 10 years of invaluable service. Nash was one of the early community representatives elected to the Foundation Board after it was re-formulated in 1993.
Professionally, Chen began his banking career in the early 1980s in Southern California . He joined Pasadena-based East West Bank in 2003 as Executive Vice President to lead the expansion of the Bank’s commercial and corporate banking operations in California . He also leads the development of the Bank’s growing client base in specialized market segments, including health care, public utilities, municipalities, government entities and non-profit organizations.
Chen is a graduate of the University of Southern California and completed East West Bank ’s Executive Leadership Program at the USC Marshall School of Business. He enjoys outdoor activities and resides in Burbank with his wife Deborah.
Established in 1983, the Foundation is a non-profit corporation that manages charitable contributions on behalf of the Tournament of Roses Association. The thirteen member Board of Directors is comprised of community leaders and Tournament members, appointed by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. The Foundation receives donations and gifts from the Tournament of Roses Association, its supporters and the general public.
