The City of Pasadena has issued a traffic advisory for today’s AC/DC concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, warning attendees and residents to anticipate heavy congestion throughout the surrounding areas.

“Due to the AC/DC concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium, please anticipate traffic in the surrounding areas. Attendees must pay attention and follow the direction of all traffic control personnel and signage,” reads the official advisory from the City of Pasadena.

The highly anticipated concert, part of AC/DC’s Power Up Tour supporting their 2020 album, marks the legendary rock band’s first U.S. tour in nearly a decade. This concert represents a significant moment for rock fans, as the tour has generated substantial excitement, with the band performing in stadium venues across North America.

The Rose Bowl Stadium, with its capacity exceeding 90,000 and known as “America’s Stadium,” regularly hosts large-scale events but also creates significant traffic challenges in surrounding neighborhoods. Tens of thousands of fans are expected to converge on the venue today.

Parking lots will open at 3:00 p.m., with shuttle operations beginning simultaneously. Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with opening act The Pretty Reckless starting at 7:00 p.m. The opening act concludes at 8:00 p.m., followed by AC/DC taking the stage at 8:30 p.m., with the concert concluding around 11:00 p.m.

The official timeline indicates 6:00 p.m. as the recommended arrival time due to traffic conditions. The event schedule includes a Happy Hour at Brookside Clubhouse from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Parking costs have been set at $75 at the entrance today. Given these costs and expected congestion, alternative transportation options are available, including Rally bus services from various locations, including Inglewood, to the Rose Bowl for $80 round-trip.

“Parking at Rose Bowl Stadium is expensive because of surge demand and traffic in Pasadena is expected to be difficult to navigate on show day,” notes the Rally transportation service website.

For concert attendees, officials recommend allowing substantial extra time to reach the venue, considering early arrival when parking lots open, purchasing parking passes online in advance, exploring alternative transportation options like Rally buses or carpooling, bringing ear protection as noted by concert preparation guides, and preparing for a crowded environment with tens of thousands of fans.

Pasadena residents are advised to plan travel routes avoiding areas surrounding the Rose Bowl, adjust schedules to avoid peak arrival (5:00-7:00 p.m.) and departure (11:00 p.m.-midnight) times, be aware of modified traffic patterns due to control measures, and follow official City of Pasadena communications for updates.

The concert is one of several major events at the Rose Bowl Stadium this season, as noted in multiple District 6 newsletters from the City of Pasadena. While these events bring significant cultural and economic benefits to the city, they also create temporary inconveniences for residents and visitors.

City officials emphasize the importance of planning ahead, following traffic control directions, and allowing extra time for travel today. Both residents and concert attendees should stay informed through official channels and prepare for substantial traffic congestion throughout the evening.
