Pasadena police arrested two individuals Thursday night after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a loaded handgun in their vehicle, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau reported.

At approximately 10:52 p.m. on May 22, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop at the intersection of Glorieta Street and Morton Avenue for a vehicle code violation, Lieutenant Campeau said. During the investigation, officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle.

Further inquiry revealed a loaded black semi-automatic handgun concealed in the driver’s door compartment. The firearm was not registered to either occupant, Campeau said.

The suspects, identified as 34-year-old Charlene Gulley, an African American woman from Pasadena, and 58-year-old Lawrence Dixon, an African American man from Altadena, both suspects denied knowledge or ownership of the weapon.

Campeau said both suspects were taken into custody on weapons violations and booked into the Pasadena jail.

Campeau noted that no additional charges or contraband, such as drugs, were found during the stop. Campeau also confirmed there was no resistance during the arrests.
