In Week 9 of college football, the UCLA Bruins facing the Colorado Buffaloes in a Pac-12 showdown at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Saturday, Oct. 28 in the season’s Homecoming and Throwback game. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
This will be a unique matchup as it’s the first and only time coaches Deion Sanders and Chip Kelly will meet as Pac-12 coaches due to recent conference realignment.
The game portends exciting clash of strengths. UCLA’s robust defense, ranked 11th nationally in yards allowed and second in the Pac-12 for passing and scoring defense, will take on Colorado’s high-octane offense. UCLA opens as a 17.5-point favorite in this contest, with an over/under of 63.5, according to FanDuel.
UCLA is riding high after a dominant victory over Stanford, winning 42-7. The Bruins now hold a 5-2 season record and are 2-2 in the Pac-12. Their defense, paired with a formidable rushing attack led by Carson Steele and T.J. Harden, has been a driving force behind their success.
On the other hand, Colorado, coming off a bye week, had a challenging previous game, losing to Stanford in a dramatic overtime battle. Despite the loss, Colorado’s star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, has been on fire, leading the Buffaloes to boast the nation’s third-best passing attack, averaging 346.1 yards per game. Sanders has an impressive 72.3% completion rate with 24 touchdowns and just three interceptions in the season.
After this season, UCLA will transition to the Big Ten, while Colorado is set to rejoin the Big 12 in 2024.
In their recent ten games, UCLA has emerged victorious seven times, demonstrating their dominance over the Buffaloes. Even in the last five games, UCLA holds the upper hand with three wins.
Among the memorable clashes between the two schools, the 2015 game stands out when UCLA defeated Colorado with a final score of 35-31.
UCLA currently holds a two-game winning streak against Colorado, making them the favorites for the upcoming game. However, the Buffaloes are a resilient team, capable of causing an upset, and they will be looking to prove their mettle on the field.
ESPN’s matchup predictor favors UCLA, giving them a 78.9% chance of victory in Week 9.
