The UCLA Bruins (1-4, 0-3 Big Ten) will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-3, 1-2 Big Ten) in a Big Ten Conference football game at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
The game, scheduled for 6 p.m., marks UCLA’s first appearance on the Big Ten Network since officially joining the conference on August 2, 2024, alongside Oregon, USC, and Washington. It’s the Bruins’ sixth game of the season and fourth at home.
Guy Haberman will handle play-by-play duties, with Yogi Roth as analyst and Rhett Lewis on the sideline. Local radio coverage will be available on AM 570, and SiriusXM/SXM App channels 138 or 195/957.
UCLA enters the contest seeking its first conference win under new head coach DeShaun Foster, who took the helm on February 12. Foster, a UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, spent seven seasons in the National Football League and 11 years in collegiate coaching, including 10 at UCLA, before his promotion from associate head coach and running backs coach.
The Bruins are coming off a 27-11 loss to No. 7 Penn State last Saturday, following earlier defeats to LSU and Oregon. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Justyn Martin made his first career start against Penn State, completing 22 of 30 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown.
Linebacker Carson Schwesinger leads the Big Ten in solo tackles (5.8) and total tackles (9.8) per game. He recorded 15 tackles against Penn State, becoming only the second Bruin defender in six years to reach that mark in a game.
This will be the fourth meeting between UCLA and Minnesota, with the Golden Gophers leading the series 2-1. Their last encounter was in 1978 when the Bruins won 17-3. The series includes a 1962 Rose Bowl matchup won by Minnesota.
