This sermon was delivered by Scotty Alvarez, Mission Purpose Leader, Crescenta Valley Church, on Sunday July 26, 2015. Scotty Alvarez was born and raised in rural Nebraska (a Husker), got a B.S. at Stanford and played baseball. He had a high-tech career before starting his own advertising production company. He moved to L.A. to pursue the movie industry and produced the movie Down for Life, based on a true story about a Latina who escapes the gang life. Scotty and his wife founded Celebrate Recovery, which led to him to joining the staff at Crescenta Valley Church as the Ministry Purpose Leader.
