Washington STEM Elementary Magnet announced the unveiling of a beautiful new mosaic artwork at the school’s entrance, created in collaboration with Light Bringer Project. This stunning piece of public art now adorns the school’s facade, bringing a vibrant visual to the heart of the school community. The mosaic, which took over 5 months to fabricate by hand offsite and 3 days to install, will welcome the community back to school in the fall.

The mosaic features a dynamic depiction of native plants and animals indigenous to the area, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the local ecosystem.

At the center of the mosaic, the name of the school is prominently displayed, blending art and education in a way that is both aesthetically captivating and meaningful. The project not only celebrates the natural heritage of the region but also provides students and families with a daily reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship and cultural appreciation.

“This beautiful mosaic is more than just a piece of art; it’s a symbol of the partnership between our school and the community,” said Reyna Uka, Principal of Washington STEM Elementary Magnet. “The artwork brings to life the values we strive to instill in our students: creativity, connection, and a respect for the world around us and we’re excited to share it with our students, staff, and families.”

The mosaic project is part of Washington STEM Elementary Magnet School’s ongoing efforts to foster an environment that celebrates diversity, creativity, and community involvement.
