The San Gabriel Valley is expected to experience wetter skies and cooler temperatures than last week’s hot and dry weather as the first winter storm of the season approaches the area.
The National Weather Service said the storm system is expected to bring rain and mountain snow to southwest California from Tuesday night through early Thursday.
The San Gabriel Mountains will experience the best chance of notable amount of rain that is around 0.30 inch of rainfall by early Thursday. The weather bureau added that the cold air will drop snow levels to between 5,000 to 6,000 feet across the region.
The bureau’s weekly weather forecast showed that that Monday and Tuesday morning is expected to be sunny accompanied by a light wind.
By Tuesday night, increasing volume of clouds and a chance of drizzle is expected at around 11:00 p.m.
Throughout Wednesday, cloudy skies and a 40-percent chance of rainshowers are to be expected in Southwest California.
It will be partly sunny on Thursday, to be followed by a sunny weather and clear night skies from Friday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
