Where to Recycle Christmas Trees in Pasadena

Published on Monday, December 28, 2020 | 5:00 am

With Christmas now over, people are probably wondering what they are going to do with a dying tree that’s dropping needles everywhere.

The Pasadena Department of Public Works is offering free Christmas tree recycling through Jan. 4, when residents can drop off their trees either at Eaton Blanche Park, 3100 E. Del Mar Blvd., or Robinson Park, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.

To use the service, simply bring the tree to the parking lot on Millicent Way near Eaton Blanche Park, or to the parking lot on Morton Street near Robinson Park, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. from now to Jan 4.

Be sure to remove all stands, ornaments and lights before taking the tree out of the house. Also remember to keep all displayed trees properly watered so they do not dry out until they’re ready to be taken down and recycled.

Flocked and fire retardant-treated trees are acceptable.

Curbside Christmas tree pickup will also be available to Pasadena’s solid waste customers on regularly scheduled collection days and routes from Jan. 2 to Jan 15.

Trees can be trimmed to fit in the black-lid yard waste container for recycling. But, again, remove all stands, ornaments, and lights before doing that.
