Winds Buffet Pasadena, Advisory Declared for Monday

Winds swept across Pasadena Sunday evening and will continue Monday, the National Weather Service said, gradually decreasing during the morning into this afternoon in most areas.

The NWS issued a wind advisory for Pasadena which will remain in effect until 2 p.m.  

As of early Monday morning, City spokesperson Lisa Derderian said no significant wind damage had been reported in Pasadena.

“When we see sunrise and more light we may have a better idea,” she said.

In the San Gabriel Valley, winds will be strongest in the foothills, especially along the 210 corridor from La Cañada Flintridge east to Glendora, the forecasters said. “There is a chance of local damaging wind gusts to 60 mph in the foothills early [Monday] morning as mountain wave activity is possible across the San Gabriels,” the NWS said.

Daytime high temperatures will likely edge up a couple of degrees each day, possibly rising to normal or even slightly above normal levels on Wednesday, according to the NWS. Pasadena is predicted to be clear and 69 on Wednesday.

Nights, however, will be chilly and fall to the low 40s.

Skies will be clear tonight through Saturday, which will be partly cloudy, according to the NWS. No rain is predicted over the next week.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 64. Breezy, with a north northeast wind 10 to 20 mph becoming east southeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Monday Night: Clear, with a low around 38. North northeast wind around 10 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 66. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 43. North northeast wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 69.

Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 45.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 66.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 42.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 68.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 64.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.
